IPRC.

The INDEPENDENT PUBLISHING RESOURCE CENTER is the greatest place on earth in my eyes right now. They say they:
"facilitates creative expression and identity by providing individual access to the resources and tools for the creation of independently published media and art. Since 1998 the center has been dedicated to encouraging the growth of a visual and literary publishing community by offering a space to gather and exchange information and ideas, as well as to produce work”.
C'mon who doesn't wanna study and create in this place/space? When I went on the website I looked at their cool course offerings (some free, all cheap) and I was upset I wasn't living in Portland right now. Every city should have a creative mega-spot like this. You can use the workspace and equipment for only $5 an hr...and they offer a variety of workshops mainly for publishing, self-publishing, and printing. You can hold group meetings here and just build with fellow art kids.
Additionally they have their own library, yea I said it. The library is the home of more than 5,500 self-published books and guides on publishing, art, how-tos, criticisms, and thoughts. Nice.
